It is guitar, bass, and drums each acting as engines in a muscle car drag race. Pattons signature strange voice is put on full display on songs such as 'Grave Slave' or 'Shillelagh' as he belts out harsh.

Dead Cross’ debut self-titled LP vacillates from sounding like Godzilla attacking Tokyo to becoming the potential soundtrack of witches catching waves in a hurricane. Their answer was to shake loose the white-knuckled grip of nostalgia that pervades our society and instead tap into the endless potential for uncharted, divine filth. Dead Cross, the SoCal hardcore outfit featuring Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Misfits), Mike Patton (Faith No More, Tomahawk), Justin Pearson (The Locust, Retox) and Michael Crain (Retox, Festival of Dead Deer), recently released a self-titled, four-track EP via Ipecac Recordings. Shows were scheduled before a single song was written, fans were formed before even one show was played. From its inception, expectations were high for Dead Cross, with many left guessing what sort of sound a band featuring Mike Patton on vocals, Dave Lombardo on drums, guitarist Mike Crain and bassist Justin Pearson would have. It’s been a few months since Dead Cross, the hardcore-metal crossover group that features former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, announced that they’d drafted Faith No More frontman.
